Elementary Art We have had a fun, busy time of learning in our classes. We began the year with the Dallas County Fair Clothesline art competition with Madison Gray as our overall winner. After studying the works of Vincent van Gogh, Edvard Munch and Pablo Picasso, students designed Picasso inspired faces and their own version of "The Scream". K-2nd graders entered the Farm Bureau coloring contest with Adrianna Doherty winning, Kalianna Bell received 2nd place and Kambrea Shuler was our 3rd place winner. Congratulations to all our winners! I could not judge because they all did a fantastic job! In November we created a work of art in honor all our Veterans. We also painted cornucopias and tried our skill at camouflaging old Tom Turkey. These were fabulous! December arrived in a flurry of cold but we managed to create our own "Elf on the Shelf", animal portraits and our older students are painting their own Christmas/December designs. Samples of our work are on display in our hallway. Come and check it out and look for your child's work as it is sent home. My 5th and 6th graders are working on their organizational skills by keeping their work in a portfolio. This should be a great keepsake for them. Please continue to encourage your child to "love" the arts! By the way, art supplies make great stocking stuffers and encourages your child even more! Merry Christmas to all and a blessed New Year!
